Derek Derenalagi

Derek made his Paralympic debut at London 2012, competing in the F57 Discus.

Previously a keen Rugby player, Derek has been involved in Athletics for over three years and his chosen discipline is the Discus. As a member of HM Armed Forces, Derek was injured whilst on a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2007.

He was later enrolled on the BPA's Talent Transition Programme and he has also attended BPA preparation camps to help with his development in the sport.

Competing on his Paralympic debut at London 2012, Derek finished 11th in his event, with a competition best of 39.37m.

In 2008, Derek was spotted at a BPA-run Paralympic Potential Day. He was further developed by the Battle Back programme, a joint initiative between the BPA and the Ministry of Defence, with support from Help for Heroes.

Derek has ambitions to work as a fitness instructor.
