One of the proudest moments of James' career is winning three gold medals at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, competing in the 100m Backstroke (S9), the 200m Individual Medley (SM9) and the 4x100m Freestyle Relay (34pts). He also won two silver and two bronze medals on his Paralympic debut.

At his third Paralympic Games in London, James produced several strong performances. HIs Games highlight was the 100m Backstroke (S9), in which he recorded his fastest time in two years to take the silver medal behind Australia's Matthew Cowdrey.

James has now been competing for over 14 years and now trains with the City of Sheffield Swimming squad.
