Joe Ingram

Joe is one of two sets of brothers currently training with the British Judo team. He made his Paralympic debut in London, following in the footsteps of his brother Sam who represented ParalympicsGB in Beijing and London.

On his Paralympic debut at London 2012, Joe narrowly missed out on the medals in the -100kg. He dominated his opening round and qualified for the quarter-finals, but after defeat at that stage of the competition he entered the repechage and finished in 7th place.

In addition to his Paralympic achievements, Joe competed at the 2010 IBSA World Championships in Antalya, Turkey where he won a silver medal in the Men’s 100kg. He also won a silver medal in the Men’s +100kg event at the 2011 German Open in Heidelberg, Germany.

Originally from Coventry, Joe is now based at the British Judo Performance Institute in Dartford. He took up Judo in 2004 but took a break from training while he completed his degree in English, returning to the sport aged 23. He graduated from Falmouth College of Arts in 2008. His long term ambition is to be a teacher and he plans to take a post-graduate degree after 2012.
