Michael is now a very experienced international who played at Everton FC Academy prior to his accident, alongside Wayne Rooney.

In London, Michael was the subsitute captain for skipper Matt Dimbylow, and he wore the captain's armband for the team's final match of the Games, where they beat the USA. The team finished in 7th place.
He credits one of his most memorable matches as the final of the 2009 Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia, where he scored five goals as part of the winning team. He was also the top scorer at the 2011 CPISRA World Cup in the Netherlands, where he was awarded the Golden Boot.
London 2012 was Michael's second Paralympic Games.
