Paul used to play Table Tennis in his free time, but started getting more actively involved in the sport in 1991. He believes that if you want something badly enough and work hard to get it then you will be rewarded – a motto that has paid off as Paul trained for 20 years before he was selected to ParalympicsGB to compete at London 2012.

On his Paralympic debut, Paul excelled in competition in the men's class 1 Singles event  to secure a bronze medal for ParalympicsGB. He helped to bring the final medal tally for ParalympicsGB's Table Tennis players to four, the most ever at a Paralympic Games.

“I knew what I had to do – I just had to hit the seismic serve into the crossover, and I did it.”Paul Davies

In addition to his home Games experience, highlights of Paul’s career so far include winning the silver medal in the men’s Team event class 1 at the 2011 European Championships in Split, Croatia, where he beat the 2008 Paralympic gold medallist in the process.

Paul divides his time between his home town and the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, where the GB team is based.

Paul enjoys the competitive element of Table Tennis and also goes Handcycling when he has the opportunity to do so. Paul acquired his impairment in 1986 following an accident.
