Sascha Kindred OBE

Sascha is one of the most experienced athletes in ParalympicsGB after representing Great Britain at every Paralympic Games since Atlanta.

Sascha has been Swimming since he was 11 years old and competing since 1988. He made his Paralympic debut at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games where he won silver in the 100m Breaststroke (SB7). In Sydney, he won both the 100m Breaststroke (SB7) and the 200m Individual Medley (SM6), an achievement he repeated in both Athens and Beijing. London was his fifth Games.

At London 2012, Sascha won the 12th Paralympic medal of his career, taking silver in the 200m Individual Medley (SM6). In the final he also set a personal best and European Record time of 2:41.50.

Sascha’s wife Nyree is also a swimmer and has competed at three Paralympic Games. They have a young daughter, Ella, born in 2011.

Sascha was honoured with an OBE in 2009. He is also an ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust.
