Athens 2004

The Athens 2004 Paralympic Games involved 4000 athletes from 136 countries, 2000 team officials, 1000 technical officials and around 3000 members of the media.

Eighty-five per cent of the venues used were the same as those used during the Olympic Games, with some additional venues for Paralympic specific sports such as Boccia and Goalball.

The Games opened on 17 September and closed on 28 September 2004. The Great Britain Team comprised 169 athletes and 114 staff members, totalling 283 overall.
