Driving change: ParalympicsGB and Channel 4 host parliamentary reception

On Thursday 24 April, ParalympicsGB hosted a parliamentary reception to celebrate the social impact of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and our ongoing partnership with Channel 4.

We were joined by around 120 guests, including MPs, peers, athletes and commercial partners as well as stakeholders from across the sport and disability sectors.

Speeches from ParalympicsGB CEO Dave Clarke and swimmer Maisie Summers-Newton helped set the tone of the evening, which focused on our successes both on and off the field of play and called for action on our Equal Play campaign, calling for the government to take action on equal access to school sport and PE for disabled children.

Working alongside disabled MP Marie Tidball, we used the event to highlight the lack of accessibility within the UK Parliament and stressed the need for inclusion at every level of decision making.

The event also celebrated the success of ParalympicsGB’s participation programme Every Body Moves powered by Toyota during Paris 2024, which partnered with Channel 4 to connect thousands of disabled people with inclusive activities in their local communities.
