British Paralympic Association appoints Verity Naylor as Director of Operations
The British Paralympic Association (BPA) has appointed Verity Naylor as Director of Operations as the organisation continues its preparations for Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022.
Naylor has extensive experience of the Games, having worked across five Paralympic Games in total, including in key roles at the London 2012 Organising Committee, before she joined the BPA in 2013. She most recently led on all operational activity for ParalympicsGB as a Deputy Chef de Mission at PyeongChang 2018, the most successful ever Winter Games for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Naylor said: “I’m proud to be part of such a fantastic team at the BPA and I’m delighted to continue our preparations for Tokyo 2020 as Director of Operations.
“Taking a team of hundreds of athletes and staff to compete at the Paralympic Games is a hugely complicated operation and we work really hard to make sure we cover every crucial detail. We have evolved our approach to Paralympic preparation over the course of numerous Games and I believe our operational strategy is a defining characteristic of our mission to be a world-leading Paralympic nation.
“Every Games is unique, but I am really looking forward to continuing to work on the challenges and opportunities for ParalympicsGB for the next Games in Tokyo.”
The Operations team at the BPA play a vital role to make sure that ParalympicsGB athletes are best prepared when they reach the field of play. Naylor’s team coordinates a number of key areas including kit, flights, logistics, accommodation, events and the village environment, to take the full delegation of athletes, staff and stakeholders to the Games.
