Great Britain Women slipped to another defeat at the European Sitting Volleyball Championships.

Life did not get any easier for Ian Legrand’s team on in Budapest as they suffered a third successive 3-0 defeat, coming out on the wrong side against Italy.

A 25-5 25-14 25-16 loss leaves Great Britain bottom of Group B needing a 3-0 victory over Russia in their final game and results to go their way elsewhere in order to make it to the knockout stages of the competition,

Heavy defeats to Finland and Ukraine on the opening day gave Legrand’s side a mountain to climb but the strength of the Italians proved too much for the Brits, who had seven London 2012 Paralympians in their ranks.

The overall winners of the competition will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics but defeat for Great Britain now means they must pull out all the stops against Russia on July 17 to avoid slipping directly into the secondary placement group.
