The British Paralympic Association (BPA) supports athletes throughout their whole Paralympic journey, as well as encouraging grassroots participation in disability sport. Without support from the BPA, ParalympicsGB would not be able to produce medal winning performances or inspire the nation.

The funding that the BPA receives allows us to provide many performance critical initiatives including:

The Performance and Medical Centre

A bespoke, fully equipped centre within the Paralympic Village, staffed by an expert multidisciplinary team of medical professionals who can respond to the complex needs of all our athletes.

The Paralympic Inspiration Programme

An immersive learning experience that utilises the Games environment to create the next generation of Paralympians. It aims to prepare, educate and develop necessary skills for young athletes to thrive at the Games.

British House and the Friends and Family Lounge

Many of our athletes are extremely young and it is often their first Games which are far bigger than any sporting event previously attended. A big part of maintaining a sense of healthy normality is the presence, reassurance and support of loved ones throughout the experience.

Home from Home support

Home sickness, anxiety, or feelings of being ‘out of their element’ can have a negative impact on athletes’ performances through loss of concentration or appetite. We aim to minimise this impact by creating a comfortable and inviting setting.
