Brits on target at European Para Archery Championships

Para archers Jess Stretton, Phoebe Paterson Pine and Paris 2024 gold medallist Nathan Macqueen were all on target at the European Para Archery Championships in Rome in May. Jess paired up with Phoebe to win the Compound women’s doubles title as well as joining forces with Nathan to claim Compound Mixed Team gold.

European titles for Para Taekwondo stars Amy Truesdale and Matt Bush

Paris 2024 Para taekwondo champion Amy Truesdale notched up a sensational seventh European title at the Taekwondo European Championships in Munich, Germany with gold in the K44 women’s +65kg class, while teammate and fellow Paralympic champion Matt Bush added to his medal haul too with gold in the K44 men’s +80kg event.

British wheelchair fencers on World Cup podium

Another Paris 2024 Paralympic champion adding to his gold medal collection in May was wheelchair fencer Dimitri Coutya who clinched the Men’s Epee B and Foil B titles at the 2026 Para Fencing World Cup in Badenton, USA.

The 28-year-old then joined forces with Gemma Collis, Emily Holder and Oliver Lam-Watson to take Mixed Foil team bronze.

Piers Gilliver and Gemma meanwhile won brilliant individual bronze medals in the Men’s Epee A and Women’s Epee A respectively.

Gordon, Henshaw and Wiggs win at Para Canoe World Cup

Three-time Paralympic champion Emma Wiggs made an emotional return to international competition with a superb VL2 gold on the final day of competition at the Brandenburg World Cup in Germany.

She had been away from the sport since winning gold at Paris 2024 following shoulder surgery and what she admitted was a ‘rocky road’ to recovery.

There was plenty more success to enjoy as Hope Gordon stormed to a career first KL3 gold as Great Britain clinched multiple medals. Hope, who has only ever triumphed in VL3 races before, edged ahead at halfway in the kayak race and took the win to finally end her bronze and silver streak in the event.

Charlotte Henshaw dominated the women’s KL2 200m final - the seven-time world champion claiming gold almost four seconds ahead her rivals.

Charlotte and Hope returned to the podium with a brilliant British one-two in the women’s VL3 200m.

Stu Wood opened his 2026 World Cup campaign with silver in the men’s VL3 200m, while Ed Clifton held on for bronze in the men’s VL2 200m. World champion Dave Phillipson narrowly missed out on a first medal of the season in the men’s KL2 final, just 0.23s off the podium.

Multiple medals for British cyclists at Para Cycling Road World Cup

The third and final round of the 2026 UCI Para Cycling Road World Cup took place in Abruzzo, Italy with the GB cycling team claiming a phenomenal 10 medals.

Sophie Unwin and pilot Jenny Holl won gold in the women’s tandem time trial, while Calum O’Neill won the men’s T2 and Archie Atkinson the men’s C4. Crystal Lane-Wright won silver in the women’s C5 and Callum Russell claimed a bronze medal in the men’s H4.

Sophie, Jenny and Calum struck gold again in the road races, with podium finishes too for Felix Barrow (men’s T2), Ben Watson (men’s C3) and a second medal for Callum Russell.

Brits top medal table at Para Swimming World Series in Berlin

Great Britain’s Para swimmers topped the medal table at the Para Swimming World Series in Berlin, one of the biggest meets of the season, claiming eight gold medals including two for three-time Paralympic champion Poppy Maskill who won the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle S14.

Will Ellard, Mark Tompsett, Georgia Sheffield, Faye Rogers, Olivia Newman-Baronius and Aaliyah Richards completed the list of British winners.

Urand wins at World Triathlon Para Series

The second round of the 2026 World Triathlon Para Series in Yokohama, Japan saw world champion Henry Urand get the British squad off to a terrific start with a dominant win in the men’s PTS3 category, finishing nearly one minute ahead the field, while fellow British athlete Ryan Taylor was slightly further back in fifth place. Josh Landmann finished in sixth place in the PTWC category.

In the PTS4 women’s race, Paris 2024 bronze medallist Hannah Moore clocked the fastest swim to finish second overall behind reigning world champion Camille Sénéclauze of France.

Boccia season kicks off with medal haul for British Paralympians

Great Britain’s boccia stars kicked off the 2026 season in style at the World Boccia Challenger in Finland, with individual golds for David Smith and Stephen McGuire.

Stephen, who won gold at Paris 2024, remained undefeated in Finland and sits top of the world rankings.

Kayleigh Brown (nee Haggo), who won European bronze last summer while six months pregnant, claimed individual BC2 silver on her return to competition, while Sally Kidson claimed bronze in the BC3 competition. David and Kayleigh went on to win silver in the team competition alongside Reshad Saraj.

Para Table tennis gold for Perry and Shilton in Slovenia

Martin Perry and Billy Shilton produced a superb performance to win gold in the men’s class 14 doubles on the final day of the ITTF World Para Elite Lasko tournament in Slovenia.

The pair had already beaten world number one team Sweden on their way to the final where they then got the better of Thailand’s world and Paralympic silver medallists and Para Asian champions Rungroj Thainiyom and Phisit Wangphonphathanasiri, winning the match 3-2.

Fliss Pickard and Grace Williams took bronze in the women’s class 14 doubles and Martin and Grace combined to take bronze in the mixed class 14 doubles.

Fliss had already won individual silver in the women’s class 6 singles to add to the silver she won in the previous week’s Challenger event.

There were four singles medals in total for the team with Rob Davies (men’s class 1), Aaron McKibbin (men’s class 8) and Joshua Stacey (men’s class 9) all claiming bronze in their respective events.

Hewett and Reid win in Barcelona

Wheelchair tennis stars Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid continued their longstanding winning partnership this time with victory in the men’s wheelchair doubles at the Barcelona Open in Spain. The pair beat Martin de la Puente and Tom Egberink 6-2 6-3 for their fifth doubles title together this season and first WC1000 title of 2026.

ParalympicsGB and Team GB celebrate Winter Games

ParalympicsGB and Team GB held a joint celebration event in central London to recognise the extraordinary efforts of athletes at the recent Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic and Olympic Games.

Together with Team GB, ParalympicsGB hosted a pre-event get glam session to get red-carpet-ready with Nina Sparks, Kelly Gallagher and blind beauty influencer Lucy Edwards being pampered. Then fellow Winter athletes Fred Warburton, Stewart Pimblett, Davy Zyw and a host of Summer legends including Sarah Storey and Richard Whitehead sat down to enjoy a meal and entertainment from blind pianist Lucy Illingworth, with athletes interviewed by patron and broadcaster Clare Balding with the evening hosted by Global radio’s Johnny Vaughan.
