Team Nibloe will aim to restore pride in final match against Norway
Team Nibloe will aim to restore pride in their final mixed team wheelchair curling match at Milano Cortina on Thursday.
The ParalympicsGB team lost 8-5 to Latvia in their evening match on Wednesday, having clawed their way back into contention from 4-0 down.
But despite moving within one point of their opponents at half time, momentum was not with them in Cortina as they suffered another defeat.
“I think we were flat if I’m honest. It wasn’t the best of performances, certainly not the level I want to play at. That was me personally,” reflected Stewart Pimblett.
“I don’t know what was wrong, I really don’t. They’re a team we should be beating.
“We move on. We’ve got one more game tomorrow and we’ll try to get a bit of pride back.”
Having got off to a worrying start, losing the opening end 4-0, the Brits rallied to move within one point by half time.
Two 2-0 winning ends sandwiched a 1-0 loss to put Latvia 5-4 up at the break and ParalympicsGB back in contention.

But once again, Team Nibloe let it slip just as they put themselves back in the game.
The fifth end finished 1-0 to Latvia before GB conceded another two points in the sixth as Pimblett narrowly missed his draw to put a yellow stone in the house and swing it in their favour.
It left work to do at 8-4 down. And with the Brits only able to take a 1-0 victory from the seventh end, it left too much to do in an eighth end in which Latvia held the hammer.
“We were fighting to try and find our draw weights, especially me,” explained Pimblett.
“Usually, I’ve got my draw in my back pocket, the draw weight in my back pocket but it just wasn’t there tonight.
“It didn’t feel like a nice game to be playing in because of the way we played, not because of them.
“They played quite well and made it really clogged with lots of stones in play. And then we were fighting for our lives to try and stay in the game.”
But Team Nibloe will no doubt aim to end on a high when they face Norway at 5.35pm GMT on Thursday evening.
It presents the opportunity to show exactly what they are capable of on the ice, as they say their farewells to a week full of history in Milano Cortina 2026.
