Alex Slegg lost the use of his right leg in 2013 after an injury sustained whilst serving in the British Army required emergency surgery to remove herniated discs in his spine.
His first ever experience of skiing was through the Battle Back programme for wounded soldiers in 2016 during his four years of rehabilitation. He joined the Armed Forces Para Snowsport Team in 2017, setting his sights on learning to ski race and competing at the Beijing Paralympic Games in 2022.
Alex entered his first international race in 2018 and enjoyed success in the following seasons with bronze, silver and gold medals while climbing the international rankings. Alex made his World Championships debut at the delayed Lillehammer 2021 competition, then went on to make his Paralympic debut at Beijing 2022 where he competed in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events, with a best place of 26th.
